"content": "Nuclear energy is generated from enriched uranium. It is generated by splitting the atoms of uranium through a process known as “fusion”. When that is done, energy is released. That energy is then used to heat water. The heated water produces steam. The steam is, in turn, used to drive turbines, which then produce electricity. In a nutshell, that is how nuclear energy is produced. Uranium is one of the few elements that have high energy content. That is why uranium is used in producing nuclear bombs. As hon. Members are aware, during the Second World War, uranium was used in the form of a nuclear bomb in Japan. So, uranium has extremely high energy levels when split."
