We need to be careful with this amendment because it might actually be inconsistent with Article 49 of the Constitution, under the rights of an arrested person. I want to refer you to Article 49(1)(f), which requires a person to be brought before a court as soon as it is reasonably possible. It further goes to say within 24 hours after being arrested. If a child is arrested and is held for seven days, that would actually be unconstitutional. If a person is arrested, that person needs to be brought before a court of law.
