    "content": "This has also spelt out some of the benefits. The lacuna is that this can potentially become a money Bill but it has to be interrogated between both the KDF structure and the Treasury to see that it is manageable, for this Bill to see the light of day. Also, establishing the department of the veterans actually makes the issue of veterans’ affairs holistic as opposed to what we have today where the Treasury is looking at the pension and the KDF is looking at medical and other benefits to the retirees. Finally, through this Bill, we will be able to get data of the military veterans. Currently, the data is not there or the accuracy of it might not be there but with this outfit, then we will be able to know where all the retirees are and they can be listed as veterans. Finally, within the advisory council, more than the military veterans themselves, there must be legal experts, financial experts, medical experts and education experts so that the outfit does not just become a military thing but rather a Kenyan thing where all are able to interrogate questions and matters that arise as a result of military veterans.
