    "content": "Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 17 of the Bill be amended in sub clause (2) by deleting the full stop at the end of paragraph (c) and substituting therefor the words “one of whom shall be an advocate of at least 25 years standing.” We are seeking that one of the members to be elected to the Council of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), should include a person who has been practising for at least 25 years. The reason being we have a serious problem with the LSK Council. It has only elected very young people and so at times we run into problems because of the exclusion of senior counsel who want to provide wisdom in times of crisis and so we lose out on that experience. As you know, you cannot teach experience, but you only acquire it over time. So, we are seeking that Clause 17 (c) be amended to provide that a person who has practised for at least 25 years should be one of those who would be elected to the Council. Thank you."
