Members, you will recall that today during the Morning Sitting, several Members rose on points of order to seek the Chair’s direction regarding the Security Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2014. In a nutshell, the following issues were raised:- (a) whether the Bill has undergone public participation as envisaged under Article 118 of the Constitution; (b) whether the relevant Departmental Committees have been accorded an opportunity to consider issues related to their mandates; (c) whether the following provisions of the Bill are in contravention of the Bill of Rights:- The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
