The President might not have been informed that the nominee is not among the original eight persons whose names were forwarded to him for nomination. A shortcut was taken, which flawed the process. This House cannot rubberstamp a wrong that was done elsewhere. Hon. Speaker, as the Jubilee Coalition and because of our command of majority in the House, at times some people take us for granted. They think that they can bring anything to the House, and we will just rubberstamp it. That is wrong. By rejecting this Report, we will be sending a very clear message – that the process must be flawless. We must operate within the law and commit ourselves to adhering to the law since we are the same lawmakers who make the law. Therefore, it will be wrong for this House to approve a wrong as if it is a right. Let the process be done afresh, following the proper channels. At the end of the day, if Dr. Kabue’s name comes back, we will approve it so long as the process is done in the proper way. With those few remarks, I beg to support the Report."
