"content": "Therefore, we want once again to reiterate that this is unacceptable and request that the organizers review the prizes awarded, so that we do not set a global precedence where Kenyans will be discriminated because of their dominance in marathon. We would, on the other hand, appeal to our athletes not to participate in events which in their view and which in the view of the Government are exploitative, discriminatory and misuse of their talent. There are other better methods that the Dutch Government could use to encourage their athletes to improve on their performance and on their time without encroaching on the talents of Kenyans. In conclusion, the sports department of the Netherlands has been in touch with our department and we have raised this matter of discrimination in award to the Dutch Equality Commission. Although it is the private sector that has organized this competition and not the Government of Netherlands, the question of equality still arises. The Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will at least take the concerns of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be submitting a petition to the Dutch Government and through our High Commission so that this matter is addressed. We have made this Statement unsolicitated because we want to send a message to all countries that Kenyan talent is not there for exploitation and our athletes are our best investment."
