    "content": "Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. Let me begin by thanking hon. Kigo Njenga for this very timely Motion. This is the right time to bring up such matters. It is something that is important to this nation. It is alarming that 2.2 million Kenyans are addicted to alcohol. Many of these are young people. The Mover has also mentioned the dangers of alcoholism to our school- going children. One of my biggest concerns is that we are all aware that alcoholism leads to impotence. That means the future of this country is in danger. We have already noted that there are some institutions where there are no students or learners in lower classes, like nursery and Standard One, through to Standard Three. This is because the people responsible for producing more children are heavily involved in consumption of alcohol. Therefore, alcoholism is something we need to deal with seriously.
