    "content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, on short-term interest rates, the BPS acknowledges that the average lending rate for commercial banks failed to drop in tandem with short-term rates. However, the Committee is concerned that despite this, the BPS has not proposed prescriptions to deal with perpetual interest rates which have contributed to the disproportionately super- normal profits enjoyed by most commercial banks at the expense of depositors."
