Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to join my colleagues in passing my sincere condolences to the families that lost their beloved ones in the Garissa attack. At the outset, I want to say that we have seen a lot of laxity in terms of the Government’s response to such incidents. We can cite disaster preparedness in such incidents. It is high time this country comes up with structured disaster and rescue preparedness, so that we do not continue losing lives. In my constituency, we lost about five students. That is a very big loss to us. These were students whom we were looking forward to depend on. They would have grown to take up leadership in our constituency. It is very devastating to the families of the late students because they had invested a lot of their wealth in educating them. It is very sad. I join the rest of the Kenyans in condemning this heinous terrorist act."
