    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you for the opportunity to make a request for a Statement. My request is directed to the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Energy. In the Statement, I wish to request the Chairperson to respond to the following specific issues:- (i)explain the cause of the frequent power failure in Kisii County and the neighbouring areas including Migori, Homa Bay and Nyamira counties; and, (ii) whether Kenya Power fully appreciates the impact and implications of power failure or disruption on the economic and social activities of the citizens in the affected counties; (iii)if the power distribution agency has made any efforts to explain to the consumers the challenges being experienced and what is being done to address the challenges; and, (iv)whether the Chairperson could state if the institution responsible for power distribution has any plans to compensate consumers for any losses incurred as a result of power failure or power interruptions. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am aware that a similar request was made by the Senator for Nyamira a few months ago but no response has been made because I rode on the same request to seek further information. I hope that this time, the chairperson of the Committee will respond promptly."
