    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.45(2)(b) to seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries regarding the Genetically Modified Organisms(GMO) technology in this country. In the Statement, the Chairperson should explain:- (1) The Government of Kenya position on the use of GMOs technology for food production. (2) State whether Water Efficient Maize for Africa (WEMA) is a GMO crop and if so, what is the Government’s position on its production and use; and, (3) He should also explain the steps that the Government is taking to ensure food security in the country."
