"content": "It looks like that microphone was not functional. In fact, the High Court in Nakuru ruled that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) be committed to civil jail for not honouring the Court’s ruling. The Government was also supposed to pay the retired teachers’ lawyers around Kshs700 million, which is a waste of public resources. The Government is trying to defend what is not defensible. If you follow the rules of natural justice, these teachers are supposed to even be paid their money with interest because the Government owes them what is due to them. Every time you will realise that the Government has been looking for an excuse as to why it does not want to pay the teachers. In the latest instance, the Department of Justice headed by the Attorney-General (AG) said that they had no legal basis to pay these teachers. I want to urge this House - we are a House of rules; we are the lawmakers who make laws of this country.
