Speaker, it can be recalled that on Thursday, 11th June 2015, the House made a decision in which it concurred with the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security to reject her nomination for appointment. As a Committee, we wish to put it on record that the process of vetting nominees for appointment to public offices is thoroughly undertaken by the National Assembly. In arriving at a decision, the Committee and the House are impartially guided by the Constitution and the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, 2011. The guiding principle is to ensure that persons approved to hold public offices are of utmost integrity."
