    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would also like to congratulate Hon. Injendi. One of the reasons why Kenyans supported devolution was that services will be closer to them. It was not the intention of the Marriage Act, 2014 that the people of Teso South Constituency, Busia County, have to travel all the way to Kakamega County to get a marriage certificate. The fact that somebody has to pay more than Kshs3,000 to get a marriage certificate makes it difficult for them to solemnize their marriages. Some people marry on credit because they can hardly afford the dowry. They now have to pay for transport to travel all the way to another county and pay Kshs3,000 to get a marriage certificate. We need to review that Act and lower the charges as well as simplify the marriage process. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker."
