"content": "Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise under Standing Order No.84 to make a Personal Statement. This is with respect to the nomination process that was before this House, of Monica Juma. First of all, I would like to say that it is the right of every Member of this Parliament to vote whichever way he or she wants. That right is in the Constitution and Standing Orders. On that day, I rose to second the Motion by Hon. Duale on the extension of time. When the voting took place, I do not understand how it happened, but I was seen like I voted against the same Motion that I had seconded. Hon. Duale can even confirm that. I was with him behind there when, apparently, the Bars were closed and I could not vote. It is possible that somebody, indeed, voted for me. I want to set the record straight that after I seconded that Motion, my conscience and integrity could not allow me to vote against the same Motion. I just wanted to issue that Personal Statement and assure the entire House and the nation that I did not vote. I have seen quite a number of people trying to say that I seconded the Motion and then voted against it. I want to make everybody aware that, indeed, I never voted, but somebody somewhere voted. I want to ask the Leader of the Majority Party or the leadership of the House to find out exactly who voted against the Motion on my behalf."
