Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, the First Schedule be amended in paragraph 1 by deleting subparagraph (3) and substituting therefor the following new subparagraph— “(3) A person who holds the office of chairperson is not eligible for re- election until after the expiry of a period of at least two years since he or she vacated the office.” If you look at subparagraph 3, you will find that it provides that if you have ever held a position as a Chair, then you are no longer allowed to vie again. We felt that, that was too punitive for chairs. We wish to provide that if you have been elected and you have gone on a break, then you are given two years and can seek re-election. This is just an election process. It is like telling Members of Parliament that once you have served and you have gone out, you will no longer be allowed to seek re-election."
