    "content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I have said that our requirement for the long rains is 17.5 million kilogrammes. We have already given out 15.5 million kilogrammes to farmers. I have also said that 1.8 million kilogrammes is being supplemented by the other seed companies. Therefore, the shortage is not that acute the way it is being implied. It is true there is a shortfall of 200,000 kilogrammes which is being met. I have talked to the Managing Director of the Kenya Seed Company and they are trying to mobilize and move from some areas which have already planted and the crop is about 4 inches tall. The other areas have now started planting. I would like to say that 60 per cent of Kitale, Uasin Gishu and Rift Valley have planted and the seeds have germinated."
