The first nomadic commission in the history of Kenya for pastoral communities was initiated by Jacob Kaimenyi. The National Irrigation Board and the 47 county boards were initiated under the leadership of Kaimenyi. Education Standards and Quality Assurance was done under Kaimenyi. The establishment of the National Council for Nomadic Education in Kenya to promote education in ASAL and other marginalised areas was an initiative of Prof. Kaimenyi."
