"content": "Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on National Security and Foreign Relations regarding the death of Bernard Okindo Mageto, a police officer who was found dead at his station of duty on Friday, 19th June, 2015. Corporal Bernard Okindo Mageto was attached to the Administration Police (AP) and deployed at O’Moraa AP Camp, Kegogi; Marani Sub-County in Kisii County. In the response, the Chairperson should address the following:- (1) the circumstances which led to his death; (2) whether the police carried out investigations on this incidence, and if so, give the outcome of the investigations; (3) why the National Police Service (NPS) was not represented at the burial ceremony of the deceased in keeping with the tradition observed by the Service; (4) whether a post-mortem examination was carried out, and if so, what were the results; and lastly, (5) whether the family of the deceased officer should expect to receive any compensation or terminal benefits in respect of services rendered to the state, and if so, how much and when will the benefits be paid.
