"content": "bit cautious in the manner we approach this matter. In the absence of facts, it is very difficult for us to judge what is happening between the EACC and my friend, Hon. Wamalwa. This House is on the spotlight; the whole country is watching it and we can easily fall into a trap and be treated as a House which is overly against the anti-corruption efforts. I would want the Committee to address the issue raised by Hon. Wamalwa independently. The fact of the matter is that corruption remains a very big problem in this country. This House should not make itself to be seen as one which is not supportive of efforts to address corruption. The EACC under the law has got a very wide mandate; it can initiate investigations on its own, without being referred by anyone. What is important is that we have a mechanism as a House to address the matter of strengthening the EACC."
