"content": "give our people a sense that in Kenya there is no them or us. We are just one people. Like Obama was saying, we are one tribe. Gor Mahia Football Club is now winning many matches in Dar es Salaam and people are just thinking of Kenya. When they are there, they remember to carry the Kenyan flag very high. As our athletes also do well in international athletic meetings, you see the Kenyan flag being carried very high. I would not have said this if I was in the National Assembly. I am saying it because this Senate has demonstrated that it is easy to unite the county and move together. Kenya is on the move; I have no doubt about that. There were days when we would go on recess and by the time we came back, somebody would have been shot, assassinated, taken to detention or, as in one memorable case; “Waruru Kanja has been imprisoned for returning dollars to the Central Bank and his only offence is keeping it for two weeks’. That cannot happen in Kenya anymore. We have gone past that. I plead that politically we have to be tolerant. I like what Mr. Tekere, who was a Minister in the Zimbabwean Government told us; that once you are a politician be prepared for everything to be said against you, but take it in good stride. Madam Temporary Speaker, with those remarks I beg to support."
