    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to also contribute to the Report of the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations with regard to protocols, pacts and the agreement regarding our defence affairs in the region. I agree that unity is strength. Many security issues that we face as a country are not internal. Many of them come from external forces; therefore, we need cooperation with other partner States like our neighbours to ensure security in the region. We also need to work together in training and have joint operations just as it is with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). As a Community, we also need to work very closely to enhance our standing in the region in terms of our defence forces and also to show the world that East Africa is maturing into a serious region."
