    "content": "Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I stand to support this Motion by the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations. I congratulate them for the work they have done. I am the Chair of the Committee on Regional Integration. Mostly, we deal with issues of the East African Region and within Africa as a region. Within this East African Region, we have seen that our leaders have been very keen in ensuring that the integration process is quickened and much more that we deepen and widen the integration process. Much as we have been keen on doing this, we cannot really establish a regional trading bloc without peace and security. We know that there can never be any development without peace. We have been moving within the EAC to ensure that we have met the four pillars within the integration process. Among them are the Common Market, the Customs Union and the Monetary Union, which we ratified as a House last year in October. We are moving towards the fourth pillar, which is the political federation. We cannot attain the fourth pillar if we do not have peace and security within the EAC."
