"content": "Order, hon. Members! Can you settle down? I have a petition to read. Those Members upstanding, when you are in the House you should either be seated or leaving the Chamber. Hon. Members, I want to convey a petition on compensation of village managers. Hon. Members, Standing Order 225(2)(b) requires that the Speaker reports to the House any petition other than those presented through a Member. I, therefore, wish to report to the House that my office has received a petition signed by one Mr. Titus Nyamai on behalf of Kiseku Ward managers in Makueni County. Hon. Members, the petitioners have underlined the crucial duties performed by village managers which, inter alia, include maintenance of cohesion in their communities, mobilising residents for public functions and development, solving disputes and handling security-related issues within their areas. The petitioners are therefore praying that the National Assembly, through the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security, establishes mechanisms through which the national Government can recognise, facilitate and compensate village managers as a token of appreciation for the services rendered to the nation. Hon. Members, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order No. 227 (1), the petition now stands committed to the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security for consideration. Thank you. Is it Hon. Makali Mulu who wants to make a comment on that petition? The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor."
