    "content": "The petitioners are, therefore, praying that the National Assembly through the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology:- 1. Enacts a law to:- (a) prohibit the management of public secondary schools from denying any student admission or expelling a student from school on account of their religious wear; and, (b) clearly prescribes disciplinary action that shall be preferred upon school heads and/or management that engages in such discriminatory practices. 2. Makes any other recommendations that may be deemed fit in redressing the plight of affected students. Hon. Members, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order No.227(1), I now commit this petition to the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology for consideration. Thank you. I can see a few Members who want to make some observations, and that is in order, going by our Standing Orders as long as it does not take more than half an hour.
