Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 5 of the Bill be amended in sub-clause (1) by a) deleting the words “Attorney-General” in paragraph (b) and substituting therefor the words “Solicitor-General”; b) deleting paragraph (d); c) inserting the words “and secretary to the Board” immediately after the word “member” in paragraph (g). We are seeking to delete the Attorney-General as one of the members of the Board and to replace thereof the Solicitor-General. The reason is that all the other members are all Principal Secretaries. So, the Attorney-General cannot be sitting in a Board in which he is more senior than the rest."
