We need to revise the mandate of the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) so that not only do they look at the possibilities of these activities affecting the residents but also what happens after the construction process is finished. You will find that quite often, a road is constructed, the quarries are dug but after the constructors go away, the pits where they dug are left open and there is no NEMA report of what will happen so that they reinstate the ground as it was.
