Senators, before I allow comments on the Petition, the Senate is in the process of considering The Registration and Identification of Persons Bill (Senate Bill No.39 of 2014) which addresses some of the challenges identified in the petition. Accordingly, I would like the Standing Committee on National Security and Foreign Relations to speedily conclude consultations with stakeholders with regard to the Bill to enable the same to be scheduled for the Second Reading. Pursuant to Standing No.226, I shall now allow comments, observations or clarifications in relation to the petition, for not more than 30 minutes. This is debate.
