As you may be aware, we are assembled here today pursuant to Standing Order No.29(1) on the request of the Senate Majority Leader with the support of the requisite number of Senators to receive and consider the report from the Special Committee on the proposed removal from office of the Governor of Murang’a County. Let me start by commending all of you for attending this Special Sitting to consider this very important matter. However, I am informed by the Special Committee that they have not concluded work on the report and the same will not be ready for tabling until 6.00 p.m. Under the circumstances, and using the powers granted to me by Standing Order No.1, I hereby suspend this sitting until 6.30 p.m."
