Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move that the Bill be further amended in the Schedule in the proposed amendment to the National Police Service Act (No. 11A of 2011) by inserting the following new provision in its proper alphabetical sequence— 112(1) delete and substitute therefor the following— (1) Every reserve police officer enrolled under this Act shall serve for a period of ten years and shall be paid gratuity upon completion of service. Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, if we are going to be re-engaging them after every five years it means vetting and training, and that will be too costly to the Government. However, if we engage them for 10 years, it is going to be more cost effective and we will have officers with better experience. In that terrain, if you do not have experienced people, you will be training after every five years and the officers will not deliver."
