Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, the Bill be amended in the Schedule- (f) in the proposed amendments to the Power of Mercy Act, 2011 by deleting the proposed amendment to section 23 (1) and substituting therefor the following new provision in its proper numerical sequence— Provision Amendment s. 23 (1) “Delete the word “thirty” appearing immediately after the word “within” and substitute therefor the word “sixty”. Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, this is to give latitude to the President with regard to the period within which the Power of Mercy Board makes a decision and then recommends to the President. He will have 60 days within which to approve."
