"content": "Thank you, hon. Speaker. I beg to move the following Motion:- THAT, this House notes the Report of the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare on the Petition for Removal of the Chairperson of the National Gender and Equality Commission, laid on the Table of the House on Wednesday, 18th February, 2015, and in accordance with the provision of Article 251(3) of the Constitution and Standing Order 230(5), finds that the Petition does not disclose sufficient ground for the removal of the Chairperson of National Gender and Equality Commission. Let me start by acknowledging that we sincerely thank your Office and that of the Clerk of the National Assembly for the necessary support extended to this Committee in the execution of its mandate. I take this opportunity to thank all members of the Committee for their patience, sacrifice, endurance and commitment to public service under tight schedules which enabled us to complete the task within the stipulated period. The Committee wishes to record its appreciation for services rendered by the staff of the National Assembly attached to it. Their efforts and input have made the work of the Committee and production of this Report possible. On behalf of the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare and pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order No. 227 (2), it is my pleasure to duly present the Committee’s Report on the Petition by Mr. Erastus Odiyo regarding the removal of the Chairperson of the National Gender and Equality Commission. Pursuant to Standing Order No.225 (2) (b), the Speaker of the National Assembly subsequently conveyed to the House that his Office had received a Petition by Mr. Erastus Odiyo regarding the removal of the Chairperson of the National Gender and Equality Commission, Ms. Winfred Lichuma.
