Even our children, as they grow up, do not even understand that there are people who came before us and sacrificed their lives fighting for the freedom that we are enjoying as a nation. Therefore, I join the rest of my colleagues in thanking hon. Wangamati for this very important Motion. It is timely. It is very unfortunate that even at this time, there are people who retire from public service having spent their entire lives offering services to this country and yet, they languish in poverty. There are people who retire from the military and they have to use the courts to get their dues or pensions. We should not go that direction. We should give people their dues when they retire so that they can stop using Parliament or the Judiciary to get what is rightfully theirs."
