"content": "Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I beg to move the following Motion:- THAT, this House adopts Sessional Paper No. 11 of 2014 on the National Education for Sustainable Development Policy, laid on the Table of the House on Tuesday, 2nd December, 2014. As you will notice on the Order Paper, this is one of the myriad policy papers that have been lying in the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources for very long, and have some of the achievements that helped this Ministry be ranked number one in the year 2014 in the review by the Public Service Commission. This Sessional Paper is a result of Kenya having endorsed and adopted Agenda 21 during the United Nations (UN) Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro in 1882, and which sought to provide the world with solutions to the challenges of environment and development. It also arose from the fact that there is still a considerable lack of information on the interrelated nature of human activity and environment, especially as a result of inaccurate and insufficient information. It was also felt that there was need to increase public sensitivity on environment and development problems and involve the persons in their solutions to address the same."
