    "content": "Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I will make sure that I summarise. The mandate of the CIC is to coordinate with the Attorney-General and the Kenya Law Reform Commission (KLRC) in preparing for tabling in Parliament, the legislation required to implement the Constitution. The timelines have been set out in the Fifth Schedule. They are like a watchdog over that legislation. That being the work of the Commission, Section 5 (7) of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution sets the term of the CIC as five years, and this will come to an end on 27th December, 2015. It provides that the National Assembly can extend its life. However, it also provides that we have to concur that the work has been done by the Commission. In the exercise of that function, we called members of the CIC to appear before us and give us a report on what they have achieved so far and what remains to be done The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
