    "content": "As a Committee, we were satisfied that the nominees, as proposed, are competent to occupy the positions for which they have been nominated. On a final note, Members have expressed a lot of dissatisfaction with the staff of the Commission. I rose on a point of order yesterday but, unfortunately, Members were totally upset with the members of staff and not with me because I stood to support them. The EACC is an independent Commission established by Article 79 of the Constitution. As a House, we are under obligation to protect it as a Commission and not the members of staff. I went out of my way to find out what happened in respect of the issue concerning our former colleague, Hon. Kazungu Muzee, who has since resigned as a Member of this House. The information I was given was that the members of staff of the EACC that work in Mombasa were set-up by some conman. They were called and informed that someone in the CDF office of the former Member of Parliament, Daniel Kazungu, was interfering with evidence. They rushed there. When they got there, they found the Press waiting for them."
