    "content": "There is also the aspect of research. We have the Sugar Research Foundation. What are they doing? In some countries, sugarcane takes eight to 10 months to mature. In our country, they take 18 to 24 months and sometimes 30 months. What kind of researchers do we have? They have not developed a variety that would ensure early maturity. By so doing, the farmers, the country, the consumers and everybody else will benefit. So, I want to appeal to the institutions concerned; the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, and the Sugar Research Foundation, to ensure that they come up with a variety which will mature early and produce enough quantity of sugar so that farmers and consumers can benfit."
