"content": "I come from a sugar growing zone and a lot of what has been said in this Report are issues that worry us. We deal with these issues on a daily basis. First of all, the sugar industry has been left to be run by cartels. This is particularly in marketing, export, import and internal distribution. In the old days when all sugar was collected by the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC) and transported to depots in Nakuru and Nairobi and then transported back, we thought that was the worst one could do. We did not realise that worse was going to come. Sugar marketing was partially managed in a way that was supposed to make money for the actors in the industry."
