"content": "it is farmers’ money which is kept, and which with or without the President or the Deputy President going to Nzoia or coming to Chemelil, they should allow it to circulate through a well arranged Government programme. We want this to stop. We also want the Government to take the plight of sugarcane farmers very seriously. Milk producers, coffee and tea farmers have already benefited immensely from the Government. The losses which were occasioned by bad weather or other economic adversities are known to have been written-off. However, to date we are yet to hear, read or see the Government of the day coming out quickly and saying that it has written-off loans because the weather was bad or there were several racketeers bringing in sugar. Even after this House passed the Bill which authorised the Government to write-off the heavy debts that sugar industries had so that they could be prepared for privatisation, to date the Government is yet to come out clearly and say that it has written-off the loans."
