    "content": "Sugar production has been made expensive in this country. The cost of production in Kenya is US$ 870 per metric tonne while in a country such as Brazil the cost is US$ 300 per metric tonne. There is a large disparity in terms of the cost of production. So, this cheap sugar is imported from those counties whose cost of production is low. It ends up in this country and competes with the sugar industry in this country. Therefore, the cost of sugar importation should be raised to the level of the cost of production in this country."
