"content": "of 28 facilities have been installed with the sterile equipment by a company called Esteem Industries Incorporated. Regarding renal equipment, only four facilities have been completed. That is Machakos, Homa, Bay, Kakamega and Thika and they were done by a company called Bellco SrL. Regarding ICU equipment, only two facilities have been equipped, that is, in Machakos and Nakuru. Radiology, that is X-ray and the rest, was done by General Electric in Machakos, Mama Lucy, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Malindi, Kilifi, Taveta, Chebiemit, Murang’a, Kiambu, Nakuru, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, Rachuonyo, Gucha, Ziwa, Kisumu East, Naivasha, Malava, Emuhaya, Ol’kalou, Kisii, Bungoma, Webuye, Engineer, Coast PGH, Voi, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Thika, Kericho, Kangundo, Iten and Nyahururu. A total of 32 hospitals have been equipped with radiology equipment. On the second issue of training on theatre equipment, a total of 52 officers from 52 hospitals have been trained in China for biomedical personnel. The on-site training for all the users – nurses, biomedical officers and doctors – has been carried out for a total of 263 officers from 18 hospitals. Regarding training on sterile equipment or the user pre-acceptance training, it was done for 764 officers from 72 hospitals. These are nurses, biomedical personnel and support staff. For the training on renal equipment, 20 biomedical personnel from 14 hospitals have been trained on pre-installation. On-site training has also been done for 32 officers from four hospitals and a three months nursing training for 8 nurses from two hospitals, four nurses per hospital. About the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the training has been conducted on biomedical personnel for two officers from two hospitals because there are only two hospitals that were installed with the equipment. Further, 28 nurses from seven sites were also trained on a three week nurses’ orientation training. On the x-ray or radiology equipment, 73 officers from 19 facilities have been trained together with their biomedical personnel. Radiographers/radiologists totaling to 173 from 36 hospitals have been trained under application training. Generally, the project is progressing well with the timelines being observed by most of the contractors. On the third question, the hospitals that will be equipped in Vihiga County under this project are Vihiga Level 5 and Emuhaya Level 4 hospitals. Both hospitals are expected to be fully equipped by the end of May, 2016. Emuhaya Level 4 Hospital has already received x-ray equipment that has been commissioned and service delivery is ongoing. On the fourth question, the response is that the project started in May, 2015 and is expected to end in May, 2016. Below is a list of hospitals in between these two periods of May, 2015 and May 2016."
