Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move that:- THAT, Clause 48 of the Bill be amended in sub-clause (2) by deleting the word “thirty” appearing immediately after the words “person within” and substituting therefor the word “fifteen”. The Committee is of the view that we reduce the period within which the Service can make a decision or vary its earlier decision on legal aid from 30 days to 15 days. Thirty days is too long. We think that 15 days are sufficient for this particular role in Clause 48. Thank you."
