"content": "Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 68 of the Bill be amended in sub-clause (1) by inserting the words “supervised by” immediately after the words “Service, or”. The justification is to allow paralegals to be supervised by accredited bodies to provide legal aid and assistance. The paralegals in legal aid service scheme will be very important because we may not have sufficient number of lawyers across the whole country to provide the service. Where paralegals offer these services, they must be accredited and get legal advice and assistance where necessary. The legal profession in this law is being pushed towards what we have in medicine where paramedics and other persons support doctors in the provision of medical services. Thank you, Hon.
