"content": "Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. This is with regard to the Political Parties Fund. Its objective is to help political parties in terms of adhering to the democratic principles. The threshold has been high in the past. This amendment is to reduce the threshold. I have consulted with Hon. Injendi, who is the party leader of the Maendeleo Democratic Party. He has expressed his concern and we are working together. Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 1 of the Bill be amended in paragraph (b) by deleting the proposed new paragraph (c) and substituting therefor the following new paragraph — “(c) the party does not have at least – (i) five elected members of the National Assembly; or (ii) three elected members of the Senate; or The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor."
