    "content": "Some of the islands are being given away quietly for political gains. The Ugandan Government takes the waters of Lake Victoria very seriously. In fact, the Ugandan Army guards the lake. The Kenyan Government does not have police officers guarding the lake. We have been urging the Government to send the Kenya Navy to protect our people. Our people are arrested and taken to some Bugiri courts in Uganda where they are charged and fined heavily. We pay the fines, but the expensive fishing gear and boat engines are never returned. Many fishermen have gone bankrupt because of this insurgency by the Ugandan Government. We urge the Kenyan Government to either take action or tell us that Nyanza and Western regions, which share the lake, are not part of Kenya, so that we can take action. If we are not going to be protected, the Government should let us know, so that we can take action. If the Government is incapable of defending us, we can defend ourselves. However, we want to know it officially from the Government."
