    "content": "Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. In my view, unless such a conference is organized by the Senate, it makes no sense to go there. This is because there has never been a conference with the Governors that has ended with any form of respectable protocol. We have always come out disappointed. During the devolution conference in Kisumu we were lumped together with the Members of the County Assemblies (MCAs). The MCAs were even openly challenging the Senators and cheering for the people they are supposed to be oversighting. We were treated as strangers and subjected to ridicule. Even the investment conferences are turning out to be campaign forums for the sitting governors. In fact, those investment conferences are named after the governors. The governors invite their fellow governors and the Senators are not given an opportunity to also invite their colleagues, yet they represent the counties. Therefore, our place must be considered."
