"content": "Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I find this amendment quite curious. It defines in a very limited way how decision-making will be done in a case of this nature. In many of our communities, this is a matter which is not dealt with by the family but also by the extended family called ‘clan’. It is a very major decision to donate a body. If a body is abandoned, then the issue of brothers or sisters will not arise. That can be done. If the body is not abandoned, to get a spouse or a brother to make a decision to donate an organ will be completely anathema. I am quite surprised at the definition of what constitutes family that is implicit in this amendment."
