"content": "The other aspect I like is where you lose status as a party if you do not elect anybody. I want to go a step further; you have to elect national positions. Electing a councilor in some far flung area in Samburu does not qualify you to be a party. We will have very many parties that do not make sense. You must, at least, get some national representation, so that we can also have this inclusiveness, a harmonised country and feel that our country looks like the United States of America (USA). The oldest parties in the USA were formed in 1820s. The Democratic Party was formed in 1828 and it is still there today. We need to move in that direction. I support this Bill because it is very progressive. I hope we can bring more amendments to make sure that parties have candidates elected to national positions. They should not have councilors elected in some parts of Turkana and say they are a party of the Republic of Kenya."
