"content": "I have no doubt that in the coming general election we will have more members of the female gender being elected from the constituency level. If so, then most likely, the party list will not be as long as people are anticipating it to be. Since we have been going from strength to strength, as you are aware, this is the third time I have been elected. Being elected the third time, I have seen the numbers grow. We have not been going backwards in increasing our numbers. As we make decisions about this country, it is important to have a voice from people who represent the 52 per cent of our population being heard in decision making. I am appealing to my colleagues; that, we cannot move on the way we are. We need to do something about it. I know there is the question of the wage bill. That question always comes when it comes to the issue of women. Generally, our Constitution has to be looked at this time when looking at the issue of gender. We need to re-evaluate everything and see if we need to reduce the number of constituencies in future but for the time being, we need to realize what is in the Constitution."
